Dear Members

Welcome to the Mullaloo Longboard Club for 2010.
As this is our club’s 10th Anniversary Year the Committee and Membership look forward a year of celebration with many special events in store to mark the “Milestone”.

The club started with a meeting of keen surfers within the Mullaloo area in January 2000 at the old Mullaloo Tavern. The meeting of inaugural members set the keystone for the club’s future. Ten Years on and still going strong! The club is proud of it’s motto of a “Membership of like minded surfers seeking companionship through the surfing lifestyle known to all surfers.

When the club originally started we did not know that much about the discipline of “Longboarding”, but we were all keen surfers looking at putting fun back into our surfing. It was not long before we all got the bug and set out on developing skills in longboard riding through Fun Surf Events and club competitions. Established clubs must have wondered where we came from during the early years.  Throughout those early years we saw the club grow at a rapid rate in membership as the longboarding craze of the early years.
While the popularity of longboarding has dropped in the past few years it still has a following where clubs can provide a platform for individuals who are seeking the fun aspect in surfing.

It is great to see that the Mullaloo Longboard Club fills a gap in providing an outlet for surfers who ride long and short boards in Perth’s northern suburbs. Our membership has stabilized over the past year. Obviously a sign that members are happy with the club’s performance and direction.

New Committee Members

The Committee welcomes two new members to the panel for 2010 in Dgeevan Ouchache     our Junior Representative and Judy Dann our Women’s Representative. These two new members will add to the direction of club events through positive input for all junior and female members.

New Web Designs

Annette, our website designer, has been busy developing the two parts to our new club website for 2010. I am sure this new site will not only satisfy our member’s information needs, but also attract interest from far and wide. She has also been busy designing the Long Grom site for this year.

New Long Grom Site For 2010

Look up the new Long Grom Site below and be prepared to lend a hand on the day.
http://www.longgrom.mullaloolongboarders.org.au and download a poster or entry form. We encourage other sites to link to the Long Grom site, rather than place the posters and entry forms on their own site. By doing this, we give the Long Grom sponsors true value for their help, by having everyone view their details on our sponsors page.

Our State Longboard Rep and fellow club member, Dave Flower, has been working hard to get the Long Grom started for the 9th year. We also welcome sponsorship through the Gingin Shire and Surfing WA to enable the event to get up and running for 2010. Without their assistance the event would not be possible.

I welcome all past, future and present members back to the Mullaloo Longboard Club for 2010 and let’s make it a year to remember.
